Friends

Friend or Friendship. What does it mean? Suddenly have the urge to talk about friendship. Why? You may ask. Is it that your friends betray you or what? No! Just feel like it only :)

According to Yahoo Dictionary, Friend means

friend  audio  (frnd) KEY  

NOUN:

  1. A person whom one knows, likes, and trusts.
  2. A person whom one knows; an acquaintance.
  3. A person with whom one is allied in a struggle or cause; a comrade.
  4. One who supports, sympathizes with, or patronizes a group, cause, or movement: friends of the clean air movement.
  5. Friend A member of the Society of Friends; a Quaker.

 

I realize that I have a lot of friends but yet I have not much friends whom I can trust and pour out my heart to. Do you ever come across the situation when you treat someone like sisters or brothers but in the end they gossip behind you back and defame you? I know that when we got to know that our friend betray us, its a definite hurt in the heart. I may not experience it as I seldom get too close to someone or rather my work timing and my close friends work timing is different and thus hardly we meet.

 

So how can we know for sure that we can really trust our friends or how sure are we the close friends that we claim they are do not really take us as their close friends? I can’t answer on this as I myself is searching for an answer. However, one thing for sure, when you are in trouble, you will know who are the one that is the real true friends and I can proudly say that I have 3 Lovely sisters that I don’t regard them as friends but as sisters (you know who you are gurls ;) )

 

For those of you who are still searching for one true friend, I can introduce it to you. It come at no cost, no expectation, sacrifice for us and love us without wanting anything in return. He will never fail us nor forsake us. His name is Jesus. 2000 years ago, he died on the cross and his blood washes away our sins so that we can live a free life. December is approaching and which means Christmas is at the corner. Christmas is not about snowman and candy canes, neither it is about Rudolph and Christmas tree, nor present and snow but it’s all about Jesus. So let’s be prepared to celebrate this grand occasion together :)

Life of fullness

I’ve not been updating my blog for quite a while because of my hectic schedule. Heh, actually is not very long but almost a week I think. What have I been busy with? With SOGO having warehouse sales, my centre definitely pack with people. Everyday work like a robot walking in and out entertaining customers and handling crying children and naughty children. Upon all these business, I have Acts Kids Holiday Program to plan. Its only 2 more days before the event real day. Phew, very nervous and scared.

Even as I take up the responsibility to be the coordinator, I feel that God has already planned out what he intend to take place in this holiday program. As I was seeking God for the expected number of children, i get this tugging to have 80 Kids. God has proven faithful to us once again and that he is moving and preparing even the place right now. Jesus said, let the children come to me (Luke 18: 16) and our job is to draw the children to him and let him bless them and show the love. I really feel that this event will be the great hour of the years to the children.

I got to go and rehearse for the event. Before signing off, here’s some video that I feel that KIDS can do more things beyond what we can imagine they can. Have fun :)

Stress

Stress. What does it mean by stress? Is stress the same as depression? According to stress management expert, stress is known as:- ‘An emotionally disruptive or upsetting condition of mind which occurs in response to adverse external influences.’

According to expert, a little bit of stress in our daily life is good to push us to strive further whereas if there too much stress it’ll harm us. I read an article yesterday in The Star Newspaper about a girl who committed suicide because she didn’t do well in he UPSR. It really break my heart to read such news. Here I am thinking that life is so short and we need to treasure every hour of our life to impact other people’s life, and there a soul just give up her life for a simple failure. I really wonder, where do they get all this idea of committing suicide at such a tender age? Don’t they know that life is precious?

Upon finishing the article, I notice that this kind of problem is not new to the society. Everywhere in the world, children are taking their exam result way too seriously. If they don’t do well, it means end of the world to them. Why are they having so much stress about exam result? For what I’ve understand and experience, parents are the main culprit for such incident follow by the media and the school. I have students telling me how stress they are because they have to go from one tuition to another tuition everyday without rest and play. Reason being, their mom wants them to excel way beyond their peers. For goodness sake, do you know how old is the girl? She’s only 5 years old. She have to go to 2 kindies everyday, on Saturday, she have to attend English class follow by mental arithmetic and so on and so forth. Have the parents ever think that they are actually robbing the kids childhood?

For my opinion, I feel that the only way to stop the children from committing suicide will need to come from their family. Parents stop giving your children unnecessary pressure. If you want your children to excel and to be a better man in the future here’s what you can do to encourage:

  1. Praise them even if they fail. Compare their previous result with the current result. If it improve, praise them but if it deteriorates, tell them its ok, try harder the next time.
  2. Reward them. Instead of punishing them for not doing well, why not reward them for doing well. It will work as a force to make them do well.
  3. Listen to them. When children tell you that they are having pressure in their studies, spend time to listen to them and see what is their problem instead of brushing them off and tell them to talk to their teachers.
  4. Don’t push all academic responsibilities to the tuition teachers. Knowing that these days, both parents are working but try to spend the weekend to teach your children instead of pushing them to the tuition teacher.
  5. Scheduling. Instead of packing up their daily schedule with studies, spare a few hours for them to play or watch television or even anything that they like.
  6. Above all, spend time bringing your children for holiday, movie, ice-skating or any activity that can help them to de-stress.

Thats just my 2 cents worth. I really hope and pray that there’ll be no more children committing suicide but a healthy and bright generation will rise. Children are precious, so treasure them.

Modeling for children.

Modeling – What does it mean by modeling? It has a very vague definition and many people have a misconception about modeling. Back in the 80s, many parents will think that entering into a modeling career will not promise any future but to this day, many parents love to expose their children into this industry. It’s a baby boomer generation I would say that parents are more willing to try new things for the sake of their children. Be it in modeling career, singing or even acting, it is deem to be the focus of their career path.

Ibu (Mother)

No..I’m not going to talk about my mother here. It’s an old lady that is currently working in my workplace as a cleaner. She’s a very nice lady came all the way from Indonesia 20 years ago and married to our local man. Unfortunately, husband died early and leaving her with no children and no money. She treat everyone in Sogo as her own flesh and blood children. Everyone loves her and called her ‘Ibu’ which means mother.

Having said that everyone loves her, there are some minority here that think they are very superior and look down on people like her. They treated her like no one, call her name and embarrased her in front of everyone. Sometimes it really irks me to think that what so great about these people that they look down on others. If not because of the cleaner, do you think you will have a clean environment to work in, have clean toilet to go to and clean rubbish bin every morning to step in to work? But I believe that what goes around comes around.

Back to ibu, she has fallen sick 2 days ago, vomitted, diarrhea, fainted and she’s at work today. She walked in looking pale and it really ache my heart to see her look so pale and yet have to work. Ask her is she has taken her breakfast, all she say was “Belum, Kerja dulu” (not yet, work first). Sigh, so sick and not yet eat, where can. Thank God that my office is always fill with food so make hot chocolate for her with some crackers. So afraid that she might fainted again.

Look at how diligent she worked, who will have the heart to look down on her? Honestly speaking, I can’t. All of us in Starz Studio loves her. She will always be our beloved ‘Ibu’. Really pray that God will honor her great spirit and bless her tremendously.

Here’s something that I want to share with you though it got little connection with what my post is writing but its about reflection of a mother’s love for us. Have fun.

Introvert v Extrovert

Have you ever wonder what does these 2 terms meant? An introvert has always been assoiciated with the term anti-social, loner or even arrogant, whereas An extrovert as always be regarded as outgoing, sociable and popular. Is it true this? How do you handle an introvert is you are an extrovert or how do you handle an extrovert if you are an introvert. Find it very amusing and yet very true about this article click here. What goes around comes around!

Hm…I also don’t really know why I use this title. As I was on my way to my boss house yesterday, I had a great debate with Kenny. I think most of us do have a habit of using a word or two in every single sentence or conversation you had with friends like i.e. ’so…’, ‘you know’ and so on and so forth. This is the debate I had with him. I was telling him something and out of the blue he says, ’so..’ and I fight back, ‘hey, why do you use my tagline?’ and his replied was, ‘what goes around comes around.’ You know why? everytime he tell me something, I will go….’Soooo…’ haha :)

Heh, I know its a very lame blog cause right now my brain isn’t functioning quite well. Kenny is down with chicken pox and is staying at home. Funny is that, he felt so excited when he found out he got chicken pox because according to doctor as you grow older and get chicken at the older age, it’ll be very dangerous. Hope that he will be fine cause he is not as young as many think he is.

Tiredness

Have you ever feel tired before? Tired due to lack of sleep, tired of doing the same thing over and over agin, tired of people around you? Basically you are just tired being tired. This is what I’m feeling right now even as I’m writing this blog. I’m just so tired. I’m not only physically tired but also mentally, spiritually and emotionally tired.

I have no idea why am I feeling so. Is it because I’ve been working for 12 days consecutively without rest and at least 12 hours per day? or is it because of the stress of facing unsensible people? or is it that the devil is trying to pull my feet? I really do not know. I just feel like leaving everythin behind and just run away but another part of me is telling me that I can’t be so selfish. I have to finish the race, complete what I’ve begun. Who is there to support me? I know that God is always there for me cause God never make a promise that he will not keep….

Sigh, feeling miserable……

Love

Love, what is love? I constantly ask myself this question. In the bible it says, ‘Love is patient, Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth, always hope, always perseveres. Love never fails.’ 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8. 

                                                            

This verse was and is written on my room wall to work as a reminder to myself. Every time when I read it I just can’t help but wonder, how many of us can really follow exactly what the verse say? How may of us are willing to die to self just to give all you have to your love one? Even those who have already married, I believe sometimes either one will still have selfish moment. No one is perfect. Honestly, I find it a struggle to follow exactly but I know that in order to have a great relationship, this is the key to it. I believe if every couple use this verse as their benchmark towards a great relationship, there will not be cases of broken hearted, cheats, marriage break-up and so on. It was and it will continue to be my prayer that I will learn to be matured in my relationship and learn to be patient in every single thing.   

                                                      

“How do couple keep the ‘sparks’ alive in their relationship?” was the title of a blog I read couple of days ago. It was written by a blogger name Kenny Sia. This blog really reminds me that we need to keep the sparks alive in our relationship otherwise when your relationship go stagnant, your relationship will be at the dangerous edge. One thing I learn from my parents and other elderly couples on how to keep the sparks is that we must always affirm one another, in whatever you do, do it together even you are into your 20-30 years of marriage. Hold hands together when you go out and pray together. When you have something that you do agree with him/her, don’t go complain to your friends but speak it out else your partner will not know what you are thinking. Have a dream together – This is my ultimate preference as this will be something even if he/she were to die (touch wood) you know that you will still always have him/her there supporting you.

Changes

Many a times, changes in one way means losing in another way. It’s like the saying, “When you gain something, you’ll loss something.” Many changes in our lives represent loss, whether as small as the cherished memory of a pen or as large as a death of a loves one. I believe many have face losses in their life before be it a big loss or a small loss. I’ve faced it myself and it’s a big loss for me. I’ve loss my mum to cancer 4 years ago. It’s something that I will not forget. The memory that I have with my mum I will cherished it in my heart. You may ask, what have I gain in this loss? I can proudly tell you that I’ve gain my mum salvation, I’ve gain a memory which no one can take away from me, I’ve gain the bonding that I have with her throughout the stay with her in the hospital and above all I have found hope. 

Having changes in lives is not something fearful. We need changes in order for us to grow up and mature. In every changes and loss, we long for a touch of healing and hope. All the times, we look for it everywhere and sometimes we may found it and sometimes we may not. In the book of Lamentations, God promises us that when we face losses, we can find hope in him. 

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.’ The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him..” Lamentations 3: 22-25 

This is a statement that I really like,

“When the sunshine of God’s love meets the shower of our sorrow, the rainbow of promise appears.” 

So, the next time when you face any loss in hope, to anguish or in anyway, do remember to wait upon the Lord for he will give you hope.
