Once upon a time, we as a children will have loads of fun cycling around our neighbourhood, play catching, jogging and so on.
Many a times, we as an adult will blame the children today for being a couch potato – to indulge in play station, computer games, movies and etc.

It is true that it’s unhealthy for our children to sit at home and not getting out of the house to play and get some fresh air. However, let’s think again, is it safe to let them out of the house these days? Is it safe to let them play at the playground with their friends? Is it safe to let them cycle around the neighbourhood? just like us last time?
Honestly speaking, I don’t think it’s safe any more. Just last year, we heard of a brutal killing of an eight years old girl who went to the night market with her sister.

The case wasn’t even closed yet and we start off year 2008 with another missing child.

How much more can we trust our society? Who can we trust?
When we read the newspaper, we might blame the parents for being negligent but didn’t our parents did the same thing last time when we were young? Didn’t they too let us out in the evening to play with our friends? but why is it such psycho behaviour only happens now? Who should we blame? The media – movie, internet, porn and the list goes on and on.
Thus, with a dangerous society today, I really believe that parents have to play a bigger responsibilities to ensure the safety of their child. If they want to play at the playground, go with them, they want to cycle, cycle with them. Don’t have the mentality that, the older siblings are with them and they’ll be fine. Wrong, you are totally wrong. Nothing is safer than having your child next to you.
Finally, parents teach your child this, “NEVER TALK or FOLLOW STRANGER” .
