Good Morning! I read your postings (about the kitty, the yuckie cockroach, the “Why” poem, the Chinese love story, about your priorities and about your Daddy) and I really enjoyed reading them. When I came to the “Why” poem is when I thought perhaps I would write to you and maybe give you some reasons why, but your next posting was about you rediscovering your priorities and so I think maybe you know why about the necessities! I went to your url listed above, but saw no place to click to comment or respond. I wanted to let you know that even in your society, even if you were very, very poor, if you will start giving your tithe FIRST and giving it cheerfully, your personal finances will begin to be enough, and maybe even more than “enough” one day. You will find that your money stretches to cover all of your needs, just as the Lord said in His Word. I have received gifts of money, opportunities to make some extra money, I have had food and clothing given to me, and many other blessings that are just as good as money. Praise God!
(I use “http://www.biblegateway.com/” to search the Bible.) In Malachi He said “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
He also said “The Lord loves a cheerful giver” so I try to give cheerfully. I have been taught that our money, our finances, is like a pie – and when whe slice the pie into the pieces we need to feed everyone, the title is the first piece we slice! We should get it completely off the plate FIRST (firstfruits) and give it to God because it is His, and it is cursed so if we use it for ourselves, we get the curse that comes with it. If we use it to pay our mortgage, then the curse is on our house, if we use it to pay our credit card bills, then the curse is on that. I am sure I am not explaining this very well, but I have found if I make it my FIRST priority to pay my tithes, get it off the plate so-to-speak, there is enough money to meet my needs. “But my God shall supply ALL of your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) I count on that. I count on His Grace being enough and it is. I am a 57 year old single American woman living in Oklahoma, and God is my Husband until such time that He sends me a husband, if He ever does. I am okay with remaining single…it has its advantages, you know! I got to the point where I couldn’t hardly WAIT to get my pay check and pay my tithes because it was my only hope of my financial condition improving. Lord knows, I would not know how to prosper myself, alone. He has provided for me through some very rough times.

I think you should quit calling yourself “poor” – In Proverbs, I think, it says a mans belly will be filled with the fruits of his lips. If you keep SAYING you are poor, then God has no choice but to leave you poor. If you say “My God supplies all of my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus!!” all the time, you are allowing Him to say, “Yes!! I am” and so the provision begins. His Grace IS sufficient for your need! My Pastor told me to say these three scriptures out loud every day, so I printed them out in big letters and taped them to my bathroom mirror and “declared” them out loud every day because I know where my help comes from, and I needed to keep my words in line with His Will – which is to provide all of my needs, and even to prosper me. Here are the scriptures: 2 Corinthians 8:9, Philippians 4:19, and Psalms 34:10.

I hope this helps you. I admire that you seek God and serve Him in your life. I try to carry Jesus with me everywhere I go and hope that His light shines out through me every day. I trust Him with my life and my well being, and you can as well. But to help Him help you, quit saying things about yourself that are contrary to what He has said about you. He says you are the apple of His eye, and he has your name written on the Palm of His Hand; He says He will never leave you nor forsake you; He says He is the lifter of your head; He says His Grace is sufficient for your need (no matter what the need may be); and He says you are Loved of God and Highly favored among men!! You should say that one out loud every chance you get, too!! Then sit back and let Him work, and see what He will do for you and you will proclaim it to those you try to teach and all will Praise Him! See?

Please feel free to email me if you like. I had to put my email address in to write this, so I am assuming you are the one who receives it? If not, here it is: donna_is_listening@yahoo.com

God Bless you! Your hope remains in Him, …as does mine.
    Donna
